Daniel Emonts and Jacky Lee at REVIVAL Audio

A NEW LEGACY STARTS HERE

... in the Alsace region of France

Revival emerged out of almost four decades of “savoir-faire” gained from many well-known flagship models among top tier brands, and

its first "creations" saw the first light of day at the end of 2021, driven by the passion and expertise of its two founders :

Daniel Emonts

Master Engineer in the industry for more than 30 years.

Emonts is no stranger to high-end audio. Being a self-confessed audiophile of more than 40 years, his professional capacity dates back to the turn of the century as an Acoustics Engineer with Altec Lansing, three years with Focal, Chief Design Engineer and Technical Director with Sound Matrix Corp and IT Electronic, and more recently as Chief Acoustic Specialist at Dynaudio.

At Dynaudio Emonts was also responsible for significant releases and technology, including the Heritage Special, Special Forty, Confidence, Contour, and best-in-field tweeter Esotar3, HEXIS tech. He was also responsible for Focal's Grand Utopia EM, Electra S, and Electra Be².

In an interview he shared a few personal thoughts on his background that gave insights to his design orientation :

"I grew up in Belgium and I'm a child of vinyl, which has always been a part of my daily life. I was immersed in a musical childhood at home with a very music-loving father who listened to, as he said, the "four Bs": Brel, Brassens, Beethoven, Bizet. I've always been self-taught and learned technical skills "on the job." I've always built my own amps and speakers; I had to build my first amp at the age of 14. My background in electrical engineering and my fluency in three languages (French, English, and German) also brought an advantage throughout my career, especially internationally.

My career which began in Brussels in the 1990s, included numerous consulting mandates, and extensive collaborations in the field of acoustics in all its forms, including mobile telephony and automotive acoustics, These even include collaborations with BMW and Volkswagen, but more notably, in the audio industry with Altec Landing, Focal, and more recently, Dynaudio.

I believe I've always retained the DIY side of my youth, and I've always sought to improve technical solutions through listening, which for me remains the essential factor when deciding on a particular technical option. Measurements and technical data are of course important, but I've heard so many speakers that sound great on paper but ultimately lack any soul...

Jacky and I have a certain nostalgia for the "yesteryear" speaker format, and the Atalante 5 is a kind of "homage", as is the Atalante 7EVO. We also wanted to rediscover and offer a sound signature from "yesteryear". But, to do this, we also wanted to create a speaker with many of our own technical innovations.

As I told you previously, I'm a vinyl kid, and all my comparative listening is essentially done using analog media. At home, I still have five turntables.

All the technological choices we've made have been systematically validated through listening. I believe this is also what makes our project and our speakers so valuable"

Jacky Lee

A Swiss-based Taiwanese, multi-talented Strategist Executive, who built many successes with the top-tier Danish Hi-Fi brand, IBM and L’Oréal.

In an interview with ReMusic Magazine on the origins of the Revival Brand Jacky Lee recently commented:

"We agree that the loudspeaker market has shifted toward more elegant, slim designs—especially as people live in smaller spaces and lifestyles become faster-paced. But from our experience, full-size loudspeakers are still incredibly relevant—and even increasingly appreciated.

The classic, old-school speaker form is actually back in trend. Many customers are looking for that vintage charm, but they don’t want old sound—they want modern performance wrapped in timeless aesthetics.

That’s where we come in.

At Revival Audio, our mission is to revive not only the performance of high-end loudspeakers, but also the ritual and culture of deep listening. This is, quite literally, the reason behind our name. The Atalante 7 Évo is a bold expression of this goal: a large, elegant, three-way loudspeaker that blends legacy style with cutting-edge technology and musical soul."

a salesman's hat on, you will never make a good product."
