Innuos PULSAR : 32-bit / 768 kHz audiophile streamer for audio DACs compatible with UPnP/DLNA, Roon, AirPlay

The British firm Innuos offers us most of its know-how in its range of HiFi Innuos PULSE music players. Innuos players combine user-friendliness and audiophile performance. For Innuos,  quality sound should not compromise ease of use . Just like its little brother Innuos PULSE,  the PULSAR model does not include a DAC. Also, instead of the SPDIF and AES/EBU outputs of the PULSE streamer, the PULSAR offers an optimized USB output to take sound quality to a whole new level, by incorporating a PhoenixUSB Lite Reclocker.

The Innuos PULSAR model has all the advantages of innuOS with full connectivity. It integrates USB, coaxial, optical and AES/EBU outputs. Connected to your external DAC, the PULSAR is the  audiophile network streamer par excellence to take full advantage of your dematerialized music  : playback of audio files, Internet radio and streaming streams (Qobuz and Tidal). The Innuos PULSE streamer simply offers you  a one-stop solution for perfect playback of all your digital music.

You navigate through your audio files and Qobuz and Tidal music subscriptions in a very simple way  thanks to the Innuos Sense application  or a UPnP/DLNA application.  It's never been easier to browse your playlists and the millions of audio tracks on the Internet. You benefit from all the comfort of dematerialized music for uncompromising listening on your HiFi installation. The result is an  incredibly open, rich and natural soundstage when listening.

Innuos PULSAR : a powerful and reliable audiophile

music streamer

The Innuos PULSAR is the most optimized streamer in the PULSE range. It integrates the best components inside its high quality aluminum frame, fully sandblasted and anodized. The Innuos PULSAR audiophile streamer is configured for optimal playback of your music and benefits in particular from the innuOS operating system. It has the power and reliability to run this homemade operating system well.

The motherboard of the Innuos PULSAR reader is custom-designed with a quad-core Intel processor . The InnuOS OS SSD is upgraded to an SLC (Single-Level Cell) module, as opposed to TLC (Triple-Level Cell). The SLC module is more common and offers better durability and even lower operating noise.

The PULSAR raises the bar by integrating a PhoenixUSB Lite Reclocker. It's powered by a custom CD4 CX regulator module with Audionote KAISEI capacitors to deliver smooth, fast and detailed sound. Beneath its high quality chassis is a  custom ARC6 module with active rectification, over 130,000uF of Mundorf capacitors followed by a Mundorf Silver Gold Oil output cap, a large inductor and a massive 300VA audio grade toroidal transformer

Innuos PULSAR: two modes of use - stand-alone or End Point

In stand-alone mode : you use the Innuos Sense application to play Qobuz and Tidal streaming services, Internet radio and music stored on a NAS or a UPnP/DLNA audio server. In this mode, the network drive becomes the center of your audio system.

In End Point mode : The PULSAR network player connects to a main music server, whether it is an Innuos, Roon Core music server or any other Logitech Media Server based server. The PULSAR will then appear as a zone on the application of your usual music server and can be used as a receiving device during multiroom listening.

Innuos PULSAR: Access a digital music collection in very high quality

The Innuos PULSAR audiophile streamer offers 5 listening modes for your music : Through its RJ45 wired Ethernet network connector, the streamer is connected to your home network.

  1. Via the integrated network player and the Innuos Sense application  : This mode is our preference. The Innuos PULSAR streamer plays music independently. The Innuos Sense application on Android and iOS only acts as a remote control. Your phone or tablet is a superb WiFi remote control with a very large screen to choose and control your music: select, search, play and choose the listening room. You get the best sound reproduction on your HiFi equipment with this mode.

  2. Via the integrated network player and a UPnP / DLNA application :  the Innuos streamer plays music independently via its integrated HiFi network player  for optimal sound reproduction quality. You use your favorite and usual UPnP / DLNA application: mconnect, Audirvana, JRiver, BubbleUPnP or other. Your iPhone, your iPad or your Android device is a superb WiFi remote control  with a very large screen to choose and control your music: select, search and play your files or your music subscription.

  3. From AirPlay reception :  in an operating mode identical to Bluetooth, you then use the network to play your soundtracks  from an iPhone, iPad or Mac.  In this way, you access all online music services such as Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, and much more.

  4. As a Roon player, this environment is the Rolls-Royce of musical environments, it offers a very rich audio universe with the addition of very complete information on your audio files and the Qobuz / Tidal streaming services. You control your Innuos PULSAR streamer with the Roon application. We invite you to discover the features of Roon.

  5. From the native Spotify app :  the Innuos PULSAR streamer is Spotify Connect compatible and allows you to enjoy your music subscription using the official app directly.

Stream your files stored on your computer or a music server

For your audio files,  the HiFi Innuos PULSAR streamer plays your music via the wired Ethernet network . Compatible with the universal UPnP / DLNA file sharing protocol, you can access all your music files stored on your computer (Windows, MacOS or Linux),  a NAS network hard drive  or  an audio server . All the most common formats:  MP3, AAC, WMA, OGG, WMA, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF up to 32-bit / 768 kHz HD quality and DSD512 are supported.

Playback by AirPlay: stream audio from all your iOS and MacOS apps

AirPlay allows you to play your music, the soundtracks of your videos, your movies or your video games, not on the internal speaker of your iPhone, your iPad or your Mac but directly on the player Innuos PULSE network. The connection between your Apple device and the Innuos reader is established through your home network. The range is then much greater than Bluetooth  : it is the coverage of your network. The available bandwidth allows reliable CD-quality listening.

Unlimited access to millions of music tracks with Spotify Connect

The Innuos PULSAR music streamer is Spotify Connect compatible.  You can listen to millions of music titles (comparable to Deezer) through your Spotify subscription. The Spotify Connect function establishes a direct connection between your player and Spotify: you are free to use your phone to make calls, watch videos and can even  leave the area covered by your Wi-Fi without interrupting your music .
