Qln Prestige Three is a 2-way floor standing speaker. It is based on the classic Qln Signature 3 design which incorporates the time alignment sloping baffle and a minimised baffle area around the dive units.

The Foundation
 

The Qln Prestige Three is a 2-way floor standing design where many parts have been sourced from the Qln Signature 3.

 

The cabinet design and construction is at the core of the design principal. The crossover has in essence been "re-invented", and major parts have been improved based on our experience and the many hours of listening tests .. all aimed at seeking the best sound balance for this loudspeaker. As every individual loudspeaker -- that ultimately forms a stereo pair -- is unique, every component of each loudspeaker is carefully selected and matched to its counterpart in the other speaker forming the pair. A perfectly matched pair of loudspeakers is critical for the very best sound performance.
 

As with previous Qln designs, priority has been given to "getting all unnecessary technology out of the way". This, in order to allow music lovers to effortlessly concentrate on enjoying the magic of listening to music. Whilst QLN loudspeakers will typically be fronted by components at the very high end of the performance spectrum, at Qln we nonetheless believe that the emotional music experience should always be in the forefront of the design considerations ... and not the loudspeaker's potential complementarity to a wide universe of associated system equipment.

Design Details

 

Cabinet and Crossover
 

A sloped baffle provides perfect time alignment between woofer and tweeter. The cabinet's truncated pyramid top, with its minimised baffle area, suppresses any standing waves inside the cabinet and also offers improved 3D imaging.

By again basing the cabinet construction around Qln’s unique Qboard® technology, structural resonances are eliminated. The bass reflex port, with a horned shape at both ends, eliminates air turbulence.
The cabinet is de-coupled from the floor via solid feet with cones and pucks constructed out of hard, high damping materials.

The "constant impedance crossover" has been completely redesigned. Here, we implemented hardwired and non-inductive capacitors for the high frequency driver, and high-end oil-filled capacitors for the bass driver. We then selected flat ribbon foil inductors for use at the most critical points.

 

All components are fastened with damping glue, and the coils are baked to avoid any component-specific and total-network-filter resonances. We have selected resistors with high power handling capabilities that also offer lower noise and temperature-stable performance. Altogether, this results in perfect signal timing within the crossover, and ensures a low noise floor throughout the entire frequency range.

Treble and Bass/Midrange Drivers

The bass/mid range and treble drivers have been specifically selected and custom developed by industry renowned Danish driver manufacturer Scan Speak, These offer the latest in 21st century advanced driver technology.
 

The coated Kevlar® bass/midrange driver, with its built-in copper rings in the magnet system is unique, and offers a high degree of symmetrical drive as well as higher dynamics in the midrange. This suppresses intermodulation distortion whilst concurrently offering huge sonic benefits ... namely, an industry-leading - and sublime - restitution of Vocals accompanied by astonishing micro and macro dynamics. All of this from a 2-way speaker design ! 

 

The long-stroke woofer with a 19mm long voice coil works in perfect tandem with the carefully calculated large inner cabinet volume. The result is a powerful bass response below 30Hz.
The equally unique tweeter also offers sublime Vocals, but also excellent imaging at all listening positions. Its large roll surround and textile dome diaphragm provides a flat frequency response above 30 KHz, with outstanding off-axis dispersion. The tweeter's unique AirCirc magnet system and its rear chamber eliminate any reflections and resonances.

 

 

Cables and Speaker Connectors

The Internal cabling in our QLN loudspeakers is our own special design, and is produced in Sweden. Solid core pure copper wires are wrapped around a polypropylene core with polypropylene isolation. All components are carefully hand-selected and individually tested for any deviation from design specification. The Loudspeaker terminals are WBT Nextgen® connectors known for using low mass material, and for their low distortion behaviour. The posts are made from a combination of silver and copper materials.

Finally

All parts of our loudspeaker -- The connectors, the cables, the crossover, the speaker drivers, the cabinet with its damping feet -- have one thing in common : Non-resonant behaviour. This suppresses undesirable noise artifacts, whilst offering more, and better, dynamics. The silence between the tones is thus greatly enhanced thanks to the lower noise floor.
 

The Prestige Three presents a more relaxing listening experience with intricate details – nothing is artificially added – what you get is just pure and natural sounding music !
